Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Pave
Stone?
Pave stone (also known as interlocking concrete pavers or just "pavers")
are a high density concrete product many times stronger than concrete slab.
Available in dozens of shapes and colors, pave stone offers an unmatched variety
of design options suited to most every taste and budget.
What Makes Pavers
Last So Long?
In addition to their basic strength - 3 to 4 times stronger than regular or
stamped concrete - interlocking pavers have the unique ability
to transfer loads and stresses over large areas by means of a "bridging" action
between the individual units. Spreading of the load allows heavier weights and
traffic over areas which normally would require concrete that is heavily
reinforced with steel.
Can Pave Stone Be
Installed On Top Of An Existing Hardscape?
Yes and No. It is possible to install pavers over existing concrete or
asphalt. However, due to the thickness of the pavers, removal of the
existing surface is often required to create or maintain slope for drainage.
It is important to remember that proper drainage is at the heart of every good
paver installation.
Can You Create
Curves And Unique Shapes In Pave Stones?
Absolutely! Brothers Pave Stone welcomes the opportunity to create unique
designs in pavers. From the most complex curved steps to intricate "one of a
kind" patterns. If you've been told that your design can't be built let us
prove them wrong. Remember our motto "Craftsmanship Second To None".
Is A Building
Permit Required For Pave Stone Installation?
No. Permits
are almost never required for pave stone installation. In the rare
instance that a permit is required we, as licensed contractors, will happily work with you to handle all of the details.
Do We Need To
Provide A Drawing Of Our Design?
No. If you have a drawing that you are pleased with we will be happy to
make it a reality. If you prefer, our experienced design team will work with you
to create the vision of your dreams - be it a patio or palace grounds.
Can Pave Stone Be
Used Around A Swimming Pool?
Yes. Pavers
are an excellent choice for pool decks. The many shapes and colors of pavers
provide countless design options including many that can be used as pool coping.
This allows us to achieve a look that many of our clients never dreamed was
possible.
Does Brothers
Pave Stone Do More Than Just Pavers?
Brothers focuses on
projects that are designed around concrete paver patios, driveways, walkways and
pool decks. As a part of integrated paver designs we can also provide walls,
steps, columns and drains. We are also experienced at coordinating with other
trades - landscapers, electricians etc - to ensure the smooth completion of more
involved designs.
When Can I Start
To Use My New Interlocking Concrete Paving?
You can start to
enjoy your new pavers right away! Unlike concrete which often needs to
cure for weeks before it can be safely used, pavers are ready to go the day
they're installed. Even driveways and pool decks can be used immediately
after final compaction and cleanup without fear of damage.
Are Pavers Easy
To Maintain?
Yes they are!
Wash them down, blow them off, sweep them or pressure wash them just as you
would any other paving. If you want added protection a sealer can be
applied that will help repel stains, enhance the stones' color and stabilize the
sand between the pavers. |
